Story: A Praying Wife Part 2                                                  May 16, 2011

We opened yesterday’s discussion talking about maintaining a pure heart. This is a priority of the praying wife if she really desires to see answers to her prayers. Psalm 66:18 “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear…” This is a daily examination, and if you’re anything like me it’s really hourly. Marriages are made in heaven but they must be lived out here on earth where they are not at all easy.

The next step is submission. “He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.” (Matthew 10:39) Jesus is speaking those powerful words to us as wives. He understands more than anyone the power of the cross. To us the cross looks like defeat, but it is really the way to victory. It’s in dying that we conqueror our flesh, the world and the enemy. The message the world sends us is to stand up for ourselves, don’t take nothing from nobody, and look out for number one. These are the words of people finding their own life and losing it. The ones who really want life know the value of death.

In marriage I have to die to selfishness, unforgiveness, unkindness, hard-heartedness, lovelessness, and disrespect. This list can go on and on, but they are really anything that can kill a marriage. Instead of allowing the enemy to use these wiles to destroy our completeness in marriage let us die to them. Remember the “power that resurrected Jesus is the very same power that will resurrect the dead places of our marriages and put life back into them.” However before resurrection there is a death on the cross. This is not an easy thing, but it rewards are a more abundant life.

Ladies let bond together to pray really pray for the husbands God have given us. I don’t think we can really imagine what God can do with our marriages to really transform our society. Let us commit ourselves to be change agents in our homes and churches and society.
