Story: His Finances-The Power of the Praying Wife

                                                                                         June 22, 2011

It has been at least two or three weeks since I have written a word of encouragement. I can blame school closing and all that added paper work that goes with that and a host of many other excuses come to mind. The bottom line is discouragement. All last week I was in the book of Nehemiah and was again reminded of just how the enemy works when the walls need to be rebuilt. As I have said before I am not one who settles for less than what God has for me. Let me repeat.

“Personally I am one of those who will fight tooth and nail to acquire everything that my heavenly Father has promised me.  Jesus said He came to give us life and life more abundantly. That’s what I want, even in the tough areas such as my relationship with my husband. Like the author of our book says “I will not allow anything to destroy my marriage.”

As I have shared with the ladies in our Sunday Morning group the more we read this book the more we will realize that God’s work has to begin in us. God’s word will work on the heart that is willing to (has prepared to obey) listen. Finance is one area of our lives where we desperately need to hear from God and obey what He says to do. Therefore I have taken Matthew 6:33 as the verse for obedience in this area of my married life. “Steep your life in God reality, God initiative, God provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met” Matthew 6:33(the Message). We are not to worry and frustrate ourselves with what we think should have in life. God knows how to meet every need and knows how to work on our husband’s hearts as well.

God knows just how easily our hearts can be led astray. I always think of our sister Eve in this. What was she lacking? How could the enemy so easily deceive her? She had perfect parents (God her father), perfect environment (the Garden of Eden), the perfect man (Adam). Ladies he was perfect, God pronounced it so. And yet she was deceived. Let’s guard our hearts in the matter of finances and pray that God will work the same on our husband’s hearts.
