Our Journey
Eagle's Nest

Our journey began seven years ago; when a young man who had just came out of prison needed a place to stay, came to the Church and asked if we could help him. Our answer to this young man at the time was," right now we don't have any place to put you", he then said, "doesn't the Church own the house at 75 Whim; which at the time was unliveable. Even though God had given us a vision for a Transitional House we did not have the means to carry out the vision, but with much prayer and the help from St. Croix Christian Church; Eagles Nest was birth.

The journey was not an easy one, the work was hard and long and no money to do it with; but we can thank God for the young people of the Church that stepped up to the plate, and St. Croix Christian Church for paying for the trash removal. The young men of the Church worked all day on a Saturday to get the property cleaned up and the house in a liveable condition. Frankie Toussiant (shown above) was a man truly sent from God to help us, although he was not a member of the Church he believed in the vision and donated his day to work along with us. At the end of the day Simon could raise his hands in victory because he knew he had a place to lay his head that night. Eagles Nest was not even 20% liveable; the roof was leaking, the back doors and kitchen door could not close, the front door had a window and some of the glass was missing, water lines were leaking, no lights, and the list went on and on. Then one day the homeless came, those that were tired of the streets and their circumstances, and for almost two years money came out of our personal pockets. Thank God for the National Baptist Convention Home Mission Board who gave us $2,000.00. For the next five years we prayed asking God to send us some help. In 2008 God sent Bethlehem Baptist Church from Richmond Virginia to help us and we received our first grant to replace the roof; praise God for his blessings in partnership.

In 2009 Bethlehem Baptist Church came along side us again and this time brought some friends; First Baptist Church of Richmond, Virginia. That year we recieved another grant to do interior renovations at the Eagles Nest. We began to notice just as God added partners the resources and provisions began to come in to do the work. In 2010 Bethlehem Baptist Came again to assist us and yes another grant was given to us. This time we recieved money to do exterior renovations of the facility. It has been a seven year journey for us, from 2005 to 2011 but we can truly say, God has been faithful.

We praise God for the seven year journey and the partners he sent along the way. Today we are happy to report that we have in place a work program, we have placed men in their own nest (homes), some relocated, united with family and sadly some did not make it. Is the journey over, no, it's just begining and we still need partners to come along side us to help minister to the homeless, those in recovery, and those coming out of prison. We request your prayers and financial support. If you have small group that desires to do a missions trip, please come to the Virgin Islands and work with the men of the Eagles Nest and help someone to soar again in life.
